UEAU selects Orange Heliodon for its Daylight Lab

Nitter – betanit.com will expand the Daylighting laboratory at the University of the United Arab Emirates (Al Ain) with the Orange robotic heliodon.

The CEO of Nitter, Giulio M. Podestà recently announced that: We are starting a collaboration with the UAEU University for the development of a world-class research laboratory in the field of daylighting in Architecture. We are very proud to collaborate with Professor Khaled Al Sallal that started the project. Orange heliodon is the first step of the project.

The daylighting laboratory will be located in the new campus of the UAEU in Al Ain in Al Jimi, Al Ain. Designed by Cox Architecture and Woods Bagot, the new campus will cater 17,000 students.

United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is the first and most state-of-the-art national university in the United Arab Emirates. Founded in 1976 by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAEU is a university with demonstrated research excellence and enrolling approximately 14,000 Emirati and international students.

UAEU has shown a dramatic improvement of its global ranking from378 last year to 338 this year, as reported in the QS Top 500 Universities listing. Compiled by the QS Intelligence Unit, the ranking applies six broad indicators with varying weightings to calculate a composite score. These indicators (weightings in parentheses) include academic reputation (40 percent), employer reputation (10%), citations per faculty (20%), faculty-student ratio (20%), proportion of international students (5%) and proportion of international faculty (5%).

As a research university, the UAEU is ranked as number one in the GCC countries, number two in the Arab World, and ninth in the Muslim world. It is considered the best 86th university in Asia by Times higher education. The 2011/12 QS World University Rankings placed UAEU among the Top 50 Under 50, in other words, among the top 50 world universities that were founded within the past 50 years; UAEU was ranked 48th. Within the Top 50 Under 50 rankings, only eight universities in the world that are ranked above UAEU are younger in age.
