The business

Beta Nit is a manufacturing company set up in 2004, which offers services ranging from consulting to prototype and product manufacturing, training, through to the use of solutions designed for the visualisation, simulation and lighting technology industries. Beta Nit takes care of the design, prototype development and product testing in-house. For this purpose it has a centre (near Lodi) with technical and administration offices with an in-house optical laboratory, electronic laboratory and fully equipped mechanical workshop.

History. From research to total consulting

The history Beta Nit starts with three industry professionals who in 2004 develop the concept of the research and working group called augenvi, a neologism created from the fusion of the words: augmented environment. The Augenvi Logo The augenvi group was made up of nine professionals who were brought together in 2001 by Giulio Maria Podestà. The group worked on the engineering and marketing of a new natural light simulator devised by Podestà in 1997/8 for his graduation thesis at Milan Polytechnic.

The origin of the Beta Nit name

The name Beta Nit represents the dual but integrated nature of a laboratory/ manufacturing company. As a matter of fact, on the one hand beta is the experimentation of the design approach, the analogical part, (in the analogical-digital relation), what is real and not yet part of a system (the unknown in a mathematical system) what was an experiment and then becomes a product. The Beta Nit Logo On the other hand, nit is a measurement unit (which is no longer part of the International System which preferred the candle to the square metre) which measures light as it is perceived by the human eye. This for us symbolises precision, it is the digital (in the analogical digital relation), the exact science, a statement that the quantity has been measured, the importance which we give to sight over the other senses.
